A few more images from NYC. (Although there are hundreds more I promise this will be the last batch before moving on!)
My personal favourites are the black and white ones, especially the ones of three kids waiting for central park zoo to open and the hoarding with the message: Blind idealism is x…x…deadly.
Do you like any of these? Do let me know! (Click on the Mosaic to scroll through images).
Top of the Roc: Taken from the 69th floor of Rockerfeller Center. Central park looks like an unkempt cricket pitch with puddles!
An example of the exquisitely detailed architecture in some of the buildings in Manhattan.
Musicians setting up their instruments on a beautiful day at Central Park.
I had asked my daughter to pose in front of this hoarding with her fingers over her eyes. The fact that she chose to peep really makes this snap!
This hoarding was a huge. I got Vanessa to sit on the bench at the bottom right so that those reading the text would see her when they got to the end and only then realise how big it actually is.
This lamp post must have been recently painted. The person that printed the ‘wet paint’ signs certainly had a sense of humour!
These three kids standing outside Central Park Zoo early one morning wistfully looking in waiting for the Zoo to open.
Adam, Eve and the Big Apple
Thatcher…?!
Love is in the air…
Peaceful protesters at the Gay Pride Parade.
Colourful skin tones at the Gay Pride Parade…as if the existing shades weren’t enough!
Taken on one of the parade floats: a couple of boys and a whole bunch of bubbles.
The parade was a great place to get you political message across and get a couple of bucks in the bargain!
This young girl had dropped her beads in the middle of the parade and from the looks of it she had had enough!
A few days after this image was taken my son had taken off by himself to see the Statue of Liberty. En route on the boat he was taking snaps of the Manhattan skyline. To quote him: ‘the seas were calm, but there boat suddenly bumped and the camera fell into the sea!’ When I asked him why he didn’t secure the strap around his wrist he replied, and I quote again, ‘I don’t think it had a strap’. I rest my case!
The wild, wild west or a horse’s ass…take your pick!
Half a century ago it would not be considered amiss to caption this as: ‘A gaily coloured bar on 8th Avenue’…times have changed!
A couple of boys soaking in the sun in Central Park. I thought I’d highlight them by decolorizing the background.
A man and his best friend on a bench in Central Park.
