Site icon dr ian dsouza: musings of an Oncologist

About me

I’m a sixty- (and some!) year old surgical oncologist from Mumbai, India. (The picture above puts to rest even the faintest likelihood, intentional or otherwise, of there being a pun somewhere in there!)

I inherited my passion for photgraphy and wildlife from my father.

The first camera I used was his Rolliflex in my early teens. That was way back in the sixties and since then it’s been a facinating transition from the analog film cameras of yesteryear to the hi-tech digital SLRs of today.

Ancestrally I hail from Goa. The abundance of bird life at my farmhouse there is what pushed me to take bird photography to another level – from being a ‘casual amateur’ to what some may refer to as a ‘serious enthusiast’!

I started this blog in 2012 and initially most of my posts were medically related. Over time my focus has changed and now I find it far less stressful and much more enjoyable to post articles based on my other interests.

These not only include the ol’ faithfuls like photography, wildlife and angling but also new ones I’ve picked up more recently like painting and cooking!
