Farewell…

IMG_0079_1069

This image was taken on the 26th of March 2016.

We had booked a Zuari River Safari trip run by Mr. Bhalchandra Kamat and were assembled at the top of Cortalim jetty. Mr. Kamat requested us to remain where we were while he slowly walked towards the Neha, a 15 seater boat named after his daughter, testing the wet ground for slippery areas.

The image was taken by my son, Rohan, using a 7D with a 17-40mm EF f4L lens. We had just emerged from an air-conditioned car and the condensation in the lens as it came in contact with the warm, humid March air  gave the scene a surreal misty look.

“When I say so, walk slowly towards the boat using the same path as I have taken” were his exact words.

Mr. Kamat passed away a few days ago.

In the light of which this particular frame takes on a  whole new meaning…
