Tawny eagle (Aquila rapax) is yet another beautiful raptor that is listed as vulnerable.
In Desert National Park, where this image was taken, not only was it heartening to see large numbers of these birds, we also got to see their several morphs.
This image is the dark morph of the species and was shot fairly late in the evening. I have photoshopped in an evening sky to enhance the beauty of the bird and the bare branch it was perched on. It is not something that I do often but in this particular case I really liked the effect and so stuck with it!
