Wow! 2014 has zipped past. I barely got used to dating my prescriptions with ’2014′ and it’s already time to move on! For me, the past year has had more than its fair share of spectacular highlights. Anniversary celebrations, rocking parties, successful surgeries deemed ‘not possible’, memorable holidays abroad, seminars…and…ah, yes, those occasional Arsenal wins! Surprisingly though, right up there with the ‘dramatic’, were some quieter moments. Nowhere near as sensational, but memories of which, when recalled, induced as warm a glow. Rivalling, if not surpassing the others. Like opening the front door of the farm house in Goa early one misty December morning to see a peacock perched on the tree just outside. Or the discovery of a new species of bird like this blue-eyed Malkova in my backyard.
Like fishing for tilapia at ‘lucky point’ on Powai lake. Sitting on the boat on a Sunday morning with a few friends and watching the float bob, it’s hard to believe that you are in the middle of one of the world’s craziest cities! Like c
hatting around the dining table with the kids who have come down for Christmas. Or opening christmas presents. Or spending a quiet evening watching ‘the Hobbit’ on DVD with them. Savouring every moment knowing that in a few days they will be gone… Yes, 2014 has vanished almost as soon as it came and 2015 is upon us. Here’s wishing all of you a very happy and prosperous New Year! And here’s hoping that it is filled not only with spectacular moments but with a healthy dollop of the quieter ones as well. For I have no doubt that it is those that will linger longer and that we’ll treasure more in the years to come.
… and looking back…. I recall one oncologist that almost.. almost got decimated by one heck of a mean looking bison in Yellowstone!
True, Lou! A close shave it was…though I suspect the degree of ‘closeness’ is increasing with time!!
Have a great New Year you guys!!
