It’s now back to the grind for me, and, for the past fortnight, it’s been business as usual.
Did it all really happen?!
The fall. The headaches. Routine events that led to a diagnosis that was totally out of the blue. One that dramatically necessitated emergency neurosurgery, before eventually tapering off to a month-long, anticlimactic convalescence at home!
It all seems like a dream now; the rapidly disappearing scars on the side of my head being the only vestiges of reality.
And though the mental scars also gradually fade with each passing day, certain memories linger on.
Memories that serve as a constant reminder of the uncertainty of tomorrow, the solidity of friendship and the striking disparity in perspective dependant solely on the side of the proverbial fence one is on.
